Blogging Friends Blog Hop – New Holiday Catalog

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it’s: The new Holiday Catalog!!

So…. what I have decided to do is show off a few projects made at my recent classes!  I know just looking at the Holiday Catalog, you see a lot of Christmas and Halloween.. but, if you keep looking, you will find all occasions!  Here is a great example.  This one uses a few new accessories – the Pretty Paisleys Embossing folder and the Fancy Frost sequins:

www.stampinmak.comI also used the adorable Baby Bear and the Banners for You with the coordinating Bunch of Banners Framelits. I sponged some of the Pacific Point ink onto the embossed design to make it stand out more then added some silver metallic thread. You could switch out the phrase for almost any occasion!

This next one is right out of the catalog (with minor changes). It uses the Jolly Friends stamp set moose and hat. The hat was punched out with the coordinating Jolly Hat Builder punch:

I love the mini jingle bells added to the hat! You can also see how easy it is to use the catalog as inspiration – and then adjust to accommodate what you like! Oh, and the “Merry Wishes” is from the “Oh, What Fun” set in the Annual catalog in case you’re looking for it.

This next one I love because the basic layout can be used so many ways:

This uses the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamps with the Cookie Cutter Builder punch. The pretty swirly candy is from the Candy Cane Lane Designers Series Paper (DSP). And to top it all off with the sweet theme is the Candy Cane Lane Designer Washi Tape. The Real Red designs can go with almost anything.

Here’s a cutie for all those mice lovers out there:

The mice in this set, Merry Mice, are absolutely cute. And the best part is that you can color them which ever way you like. I used a few different markers with a blender pen on an acrylic block. It gives the colors a more subtle look than a full strength marker. The DSP is from the Annual Catalog, and check it out! It’s This Christmas and it’s a specialty paper since it’s a little thinner, and you get twice as much! To top it off with bling, I added some gold metallic thread, as well as a gold star from the Metallic Enamel shapes.

This last one I struggled with deciding if I wanted to include it or not, as it is a  direct copy from one of the wonderful Stampin’ Up Artisan Design Team Members, Allison Okamitsu, over on NicePeopleStamp. First I’ll show you the card, then I’ll show why I decided to include it after all!  Here is her cute original layout:

I added some Wink of Stella to make the antlers sparkle. 🙂
I did this for a class since I thought it was so cute, and the Cable Knit Dynamic embossing folder was a hit! I stapled the red metallic Candy Cane Baker’s twine to the card with our stapler.  I even gave the class attendees options… here’s the moose they could swap out:

It works well both ways!

So, here’s what brings me to keeping this one on here….
One of the class members decided to make it a birthday card in the holiday season, and switched out a few things… which I always encourage – if you need a different sentiment, we can do that!  However, it the was end result that had me laughing…  The folks in class realized they could also use the Cookie Cutter punch to make the bow tie.. so they dressed their reindeer up a bit… and then this showed up:

Oh My Goodness. I laughed. and HAD to take a picture! It’s the ‘cool’ reindeer that looks like he’s had a few too many! 🙂  I’m sure she won’t mind me sharing her lovely creation with the world – we all loved it.

Well I hope you’ve enjoyed your tour through some of the cool new products available in the new Holiday Catalog!  If you need to order anything, just hop over to my store and order away!!  There are a few specials going on this month, so take a peek at those, too!  If you have questions – just let me know!
