Wine Tag with Scalloped Tag Punch

Hi folks! Need a quick tag for a gift?  Here is a perfect solution using one of the new stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog. The Holiday Catalog goes live September 1st, but if you are a demonstrator, or join my group – you can get access to it earlier! 🙂 Just one of the many perks to joining my team.  If you need a catalog, let me know so I can get one to you!

Here is the tag I made using the “Half Full” stamp set:

Completely cute, and super simple to make.

Check out the video I put together, it’s uncut… and it only took 3 attempts to get this. 🙂  I did realize afterwards I need to move the camera a little closer to the table… So I’ll get the setup changed a bit for next time.

I hope you like it and see how easy it can be to make!  Remember, this stamp set will be available on Sept 1st, unless you are a demonstrator – you can pre-order it!

Thanks for looking,
Mak

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – New Holiday Catalog

Blogging Friends Icon

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it’s: The new Holiday Catalog!!

So…. what I have decided to do is show off a few projects made at my recent classes!  I know just looking at the Holiday Catalog, you see a lot of Christmas and Halloween.. but, if you keep looking, you will find all occasions!  Here is a great example.  This one uses a few new accessories – the Pretty Paisleys Embossing folder and the Fancy Frost sequins:

www.stampinmak.comI also used the adorable Baby Bear and the Banners for You with the coordinating Bunch of Banners Framelits. I sponged some of the Pacific Point ink onto the embossed design to make it stand out more then added some silver metallic thread. You could switch out the phrase for almost any occasion!

This next one is right out of the catalog (with minor changes). It uses the Jolly Friends stamp set moose and hat. The hat was punched out with the coordinating Jolly Hat Builder punch:

www.stampinmak.com

I love the mini jingle bells added to the hat! You can also see how easy it is to use the catalog as inspiration – and then adjust to accommodate what you like! Oh, and the “Merry Wishes” is from the “Oh, What Fun” set in the Annual catalog in case you’re looking for it.

This next one I love because the basic layout can be used so many ways:

www.stampinmak.com

This uses the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamps with the Cookie Cutter Builder punch. The pretty swirly candy is from the Candy Cane Lane Designers Series Paper (DSP). And to top it all off with the sweet theme is the Candy Cane Lane Designer Washi Tape. The Real Red designs can go with almost anything.

Here’s a cutie for all those mice lovers out there:

www.stampinmak.com

The mice in this set, Merry Mice, are absolutely cute. And the best part is that you can color them which ever way you like. I used a few different markers with a blender pen on an acrylic block. It gives the colors a more subtle look than a full strength marker. The DSP is from the Annual Catalog, and check it out! It’s This Christmas and it’s a specialty paper since it’s a little thinner, and you get twice as much! To top it off with bling, I added some gold metallic thread, as well as a gold star from the Metallic Enamel shapes.

This last one I struggled with deciding if I wanted to include it or not, as it is a  direct copy from one of the wonderful Stampin’ Up Artisan Design Team Members, Allison Okamitsu, over on NicePeopleStamp. First I’ll show you the card, then I’ll show why I decided to include it after all!  Here is her cute original layout:

www.stampinmak.com

I added some Wink of Stella to make the antlers sparkle. 🙂
I did this for a class since I thought it was so cute, and the Cable Knit Dynamic embossing folder was a hit! I stapled the red metallic Candy Cane Baker’s twine to the card with our stapler.  I even gave the class attendees options… here’s the moose they could swap out:

www.stampinmak.com

It works well both ways!

So, here’s what brings me to keeping this one on here….
One of the class members decided to make it a birthday card in the holiday season, and switched out a few things… which I always encourage – if you need a different sentiment, we can do that!  However, it the was end result that had me laughing…  The folks in class realized they could also use the Cookie Cutter punch to make the bow tie.. so they dressed their reindeer up a bit… and then this showed up:

www.stampinmak.com

Oh My Goodness. I laughed. and HAD to take a picture! It’s the ‘cool’ reindeer that looks like he’s had a few too many! 🙂  I’m sure she won’t mind me sharing her lovely creation with the world – we all loved it.

Well I hope you’ve enjoyed your tour through some of the cool new products available in the new Holiday Catalog!  If you need to order anything, just hop over to my store and order away!!  There are a few specials going on this month, so take a peek at those, too!  If you have questions – just let me know!

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – Taste of the Tropics

Blogging Friends Icon

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it’s: Taste of the Tropics!!

Apparently, I’m not a ‘beachy’ kinda person… I have the kind of skin that burns even thinking of going in the sun…  So I don’t have pineapple stamps, or flip flop stamps, or even beach scene stamps! But you know what.. that’s ok!
I was still able to come through with flying colors for this month because… Stampin’ Up is that awesome. 🙂  What I DO have is a spectacular Designer Series Paper Stack, called Serene Scenery, that has beachy stuff. YAY!  If you have not checked it out yet, you should.. It’s got designs that look like PHOTOS! So incredibly pretty… and are great for more than cards!
That brings me to my creation for this month…  it’s not a card… it’s a hanging wall plaque!
I picked the ‘sand and water’ looking piece of DSP, and added some stamps, and voila! Instant wall decoration!  I love this one:

www.stampinmak.com

I used an 8″ x 8″ picture frame from the local big box store, a few layers of cardstock (Bermuda Bay, White, Black) for the mats, the 6″ x 6″ DSP and some stamps to create this wonderful piece. I was so glad I had the new “Labeler Alphabet” stamp set, since you can make any saying with it! The grassy flowers are from the “In the Meadow” stamp set.  I stamped the Letters on white, then cut them out, and layered them on Vellum.

Here’s the trick to this one!  I was so worried I would not stamp the flowers in the right spots, and I did not want to mess up my DSP.. so I took a window sheet, and put it over the dsp, stamped on that with Memento (so I could re-do it if needed), and moved it around until I was happy with it to see what it would look like:

www.stampinmak.com

Then, I was so thrilled with my creative idea LOL… that I decided to cut the window sheet to match the DSP, and just put it right on top! Once you put the frame back together, you can’t even tell it’s there!  And of course, when I stamped it again in Stazon to make it permanent, I stamped it in a different spot. Oh well – that’s how it always goes, right? I still love how it turned out.

I also wanted to share some of the other images in the DSP stack, as I plan on making a few more projects like this, since these are so pretty:

www.stampinmak.com

I hope you enjoyed this, and don’t forget to check out my class schedule, as I have some classes coming up in the next two weeks.. both for All-Occasion and Christmas Holiday Cards!

New Catalog Open House

Hi folks!!
This is my second post for today, and I hope you had a chance to look at this month’s Blog Hop!  If not, go take a look then come back here. I’ll wait….  🙂

Ok.. Now that you are back…  OMG have you seen the new products?!?

I’m pretty excited about this year’s new Annual Catalog – and if you don’t have one, LET ME KNOW! Everyone should have one of these. There are some seriously cute products this year. Between the new In-Colors that I am liking more each time I see them… and lots of new stamps that have new coordinating punches or framelits, and Copper embossing powder… I’m not sure what my favorite is yet!

In order for you to get a chance to see some of these items for yourself, and get your hands on the new Catalog, and even make a sample for you to take home, I am holding a New Catalog Open House!

It’s on Saturday, June 11th at 1:00 pm at my house. All I ask is that you RSVP by  June 9th so I can have enough supplies ready.
I will be doing a raffle that afternoon for anyone placing orders, and if you bring a friend new to my stamping, I will give you an extra entry 🙂

Here is a look at one of the bookmarks I made for the catalog…

www.stampinmak.com

I will be making up some more to accompany the catalog when you come to the open house. So, I hope to hear from everyone soon!!
Thanks!
Mak

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – New Catalog

Blogging Friends Icon

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it’s: The New Catalog!!

That’s right, the NEW Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog STARTS TODAY!

Today is an exciting day. Not only are you and I able to order the new products, as if that wasn’t enough… I get to show you a super cute non-card I learned how to make! It *could* be a card.. but more like in a 3-D fashion. It’s similar to a picture frame.. or a shadow box.  Let me show a picture first, then I’ll tell you what I used:

www.stampinmak.com
Isn’t that cute?  I used a bunch of the new In-colors to make this, as well as some of the new coordinating Playful Palette washi tape. There are actually a lot of elements in this project, let me list them out for you:

Cardstocks:  Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Vellum, Neutrals DSP Stack (I think it’s the Smokey Slate one)
Framelits: Botanical Builder, Butterflies, Hello You, Mini Treat Bag
Punches: Elegant Butterfly, Bitty Butterfly
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Gorgeous Grunge, Awesomely Artistic
Inks: Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Versamark
Others: Playful Palette Washi Tape, Rhinestones, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals

I did say it was a lot… but here’s the thing.. I basically picked through a few sets that were all on the shelf together and used one or two stamps (or framelits) that I thought would work well from each. I could have easily done this a little simpler.. but what fun would that be? 🙂

Here are some closeups of the flowers with Wink of Stella on them:

www.stampinmak.com
And here is a closeup of the vellum butterfly before I attached his antenna:

www.stampinmak.com
I’m so glad Wink of Stella is in the catalog! I love that stuff!  Look at how it makes the vellum all shimmery. Here’s one last pic from a different view of the frame so you can see the depth under the flowers:

www.stampinmak.com
The frame is much easier to make than I originally thought, just make sure to do your first one on practice paper. I saw this online in many places, and decided to change the dimensions up a bit to accommodate a full 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of card stock. Basically you do a lot of scoring, a bit of cutting, and then neatly fold it all up.  I scored at half inch marks for this project.
I will have to do a separate post on how to do that soon, as I didn’t take too many pictures during the making of the card… but I do have this from my scrap paper, this is what it looks like after you score it then cut it up (the corners get removed):

www.stampinmak.com

I hope you enjoyed this project, and if there’s interest, I can even do a class on it – just let me know!

There’s lots more to share now that the new catalog is out, there are some more specials going on… AND I have my New Catalog Open House coming up next weekend on Saturday, June 11th.   Look for more info in the coming days, and if you need a copy of the catalog in your hands – contact me so I can get you one!!
Thanks for looking,
Mak
