Blogging Friends Blog Hop – Retiring Items

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it is Retiring items!

WOW..There are so many retiring items each year – which makes me sad to see them go, but excited for the new products that will take their place! With so many to choose from, I’ve decided to show a few items here that are special to me.

This first one was from the Occasions catalog. It’s using the stamp set Chase Your Dreams. You may recall I used this one on a previous card with a sunset, for the sentiment. This time I’ve used the stamp that was my whole reason for buying it! The castle! 🙂

www.stampinmak.com

As soon as I saw this I knew I had to get it, well, because I’ve been there! This is Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. It truly is the fairy tale castle. So, I’ve made it a simple card, focusing on the castle itself, and added some shading with sparkle around it.

I am definitely sorry to see this go, but will also be making sure to make lots more cards with this set!  For this particular card, I used Smokey Slate and Cherry Cobbler, and then blender pens with the ink pads to color it in. There’s also a bit of Crushed Curry, and Soft Sky is sponged in the background.

This next one I want to share because it went with the sunset card. They both used retiring items and used the same technique to create them… A lot of sponging! It’s sometimes called the galaxy technique, and in this card, I actually made a galaxy!

www.stampinmak.com

Starting out with lots of bright colors… just start sponging. Overlap, leave gaps.. doesn’t matter. The proceed with a darker color, like Night of Navy. Fill in some of the gaps and overlap the colors. To get the stars, I’ve used one of my favorite retiring sets, Gorgeous Grunge. I’m not sure what I’ll do without it! I inked the dots in white ink, then stamped all over the card. I finished it off by flicking an Aqua Painter on it (just plain water), along with some Wink of Stella. The sentiment, very appropriate, comes from Over the Rainbow (also retiring). It’s embossed in white, then finished off with more Stella.

I hope these inspire you to get creating!
The retiring items are going fast, some are as supplies last! If you need anything off your wish list, just give me a call, or shop my online store <click here> using the current Hostess Code: 6PYCBX7J, or click the image below:

Retired items on sale now

Hi again!  Sorry for the quick posting back to back.. but I wanted to make sure everyone knew about the Retiring items that are going fast!  The new catalog starts on June 1st, so we are all getting ready for that. Until then, the items not returning are going, going, and some are already gone!  On the plus side, there are many items that are discounted up to 50%. YAY!

With how quickly things are changing day to day, even hour to hour… there is no “list” being updated.. Basically, if it’s still in the store, it is available. If it’s not, well, then it’s already gone. 😦

Let me know if you need anything, or feel free to use my online store. The current hostess code is at the top of my blog. Right now, it’s 6PYCBX7J. If your order is over $150, don’t use that so you can keep the benefits!

To tie into the “Sun is setting…”theme, here is a card I made for a technique challenge with other demonstrators:

www.stampinmak.com

It’s using the In the Meadow stamp set for the trees and grass, and the sentiment is from the stamp set of the same name, Chase Your Dreams – in the Occasions catalog. Both are retiring, and Chase Your Dreams is discounted! I heat embossed the words with white embossing powder.

I used various colors with some sponging to get the sunset/sunrise/galaxy look to the card. I then speckled the sky with water, white ink, a bit of Wink of Stella, and also used the stamp with speckled dots from the Gorgeous Grunge set (also retiring).

I love how this one turned out – as no two are ever exactly the same. It truly is even prettier in person!  I hope you like it, and don’t forget to check out the retiring items in the store!
EDIT:  The Clearance Rack was just updated today!!! YAY!!  Make sure to click on the items to see the discounts, they don’t seem to be showing on the summary page.

New Occasions 2017 Catalog Sneak Peek

Hi folks! I have something cool to show you! The NEW Occasions Catalog is getting ready to launch on January 4th – and I was able to participate in card challenge coordinated by my upline using some of the new products!

I can’t show you the catalog *just* yet… soon, though!  What I can show you is projects I’ve made with the wonderful products in it!  So, today I will show you the card I made for the challenge:

www.stampinmak.com

It’s definitely got a bit of everything going on. 🙂  The cool polka dots and other designs inside are from the new Party Animal Designer Series Paper, which is part of the Party Animal Suite.  Who wouldn’t like it with a name like that??

The balloons and banner cutout is from the new Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits Dies. It also has the individual balloons with the dots and stripes. This is great because this also coordinates with the Balloon Bouquet Punch in the Annual Catalog. I used the punch to get the white behind the balloons to make the design stand out more from the Emerald Envy. The “Congratulations” actually came from the Balloon Celebration Stamp set also in the Annual catalog – but there are plenty more sentiments in the new Balloon Adventures set as part of the Suite! (I just don’t have it yet!)

Here is the inside of the card, where I used the same die as the front to create the pop-up look:

Here’s a better look from the top:

www.stampinmak.com

It folds right down the middle, but I only put adhesive on half of the middle balloon, so it would not fold – it makes it stick out more! The Happy-Happy came from the Number of Years stamp set. It fit perfectly – I stamped it twice.

To give it all a bit of sparkle, I added Wink of Stella on the balloons, both inside and on the front:

It’s definitely a one of a kind card, and I hope it inspires you to create something colorful!

The new Occasions catalog will be posted on January 4th, and if you don’t have one – but want one!!! Let me know and I will get one to you!
It’s double-y awesome because Sale-A-Bration starts the SAME day! I’ll have some details and samples of that coming up, too.

With all the excitement brewing over the new items, don’t forget about the current Holiday Catalog!!  There are still some fantastic sales going on, and some supplies are running out!  Here is a link right over to the Closeout Specials on my online store so you don’t miss out!

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – New Catalog

Blogging Friends Icon

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it’s: The New Catalog!!

That’s right, the NEW Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog STARTS TODAY!

Today is an exciting day. Not only are you and I able to order the new products, as if that wasn’t enough… I get to show you a super cute non-card I learned how to make! It *could* be a card.. but more like in a 3-D fashion. It’s similar to a picture frame.. or a shadow box.  Let me show a picture first, then I’ll tell you what I used:

www.stampinmak.com
Isn’t that cute?  I used a bunch of the new In-colors to make this, as well as some of the new coordinating Playful Palette washi tape. There are actually a lot of elements in this project, let me list them out for you:

Cardstocks:  Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Vellum, Neutrals DSP Stack (I think it’s the Smokey Slate one)
Framelits: Botanical Builder, Butterflies, Hello You, Mini Treat Bag
Punches: Elegant Butterfly, Bitty Butterfly
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Gorgeous Grunge, Awesomely Artistic
Inks: Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Versamark
Others: Playful Palette Washi Tape, Rhinestones, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals

I did say it was a lot… but here’s the thing.. I basically picked through a few sets that were all on the shelf together and used one or two stamps (or framelits) that I thought would work well from each. I could have easily done this a little simpler.. but what fun would that be? 🙂

Here are some closeups of the flowers with Wink of Stella on them:

www.stampinmak.com
And here is a closeup of the vellum butterfly before I attached his antenna:

www.stampinmak.com
I’m so glad Wink of Stella is in the catalog! I love that stuff!  Look at how it makes the vellum all shimmery. Here’s one last pic from a different view of the frame so you can see the depth under the flowers:

www.stampinmak.com
The frame is much easier to make than I originally thought, just make sure to do your first one on practice paper. I saw this online in many places, and decided to change the dimensions up a bit to accommodate a full 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of card stock. Basically you do a lot of scoring, a bit of cutting, and then neatly fold it all up.  I scored at half inch marks for this project.
I will have to do a separate post on how to do that soon, as I didn’t take too many pictures during the making of the card… but I do have this from my scrap paper, this is what it looks like after you score it then cut it up (the corners get removed):

www.stampinmak.com

I hope you enjoyed this project, and if there’s interest, I can even do a class on it – just let me know!

There’s lots more to share now that the new catalog is out, there are some more specials going on… AND I have my New Catalog Open House coming up next weekend on Saturday, June 11th.   Look for more info in the coming days, and if you need a copy of the catalog in your hands – contact me so I can get you one!!
Thanks for looking,
Mak
