Petal Palette Bundle

Hi folks!

Here’s one of the new bundles available in the new Occasions Catalog. It’s the stamp set Petal Palette and the Petals & More thinlits. There are a few more products in the Petal Passion Suite, and they all coordinate!
Also included are metal embellishments, organza ribbon, a pair of embossing folders, as well as the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper. I’ve used that DSP with the bundle in this card:

I love that the DSP is black and white, so you can add as much or as little color you like. In this case, I added some bright colors from the Watercolor Pencils and an Aqua Painter.  In the background are some leaves in Lemon Lime Twist, both stamped and cut out using the thinlits. Here is what it looked like when I first colored it, before blending the colors together:

Super simple, I just scribbled some colors that I wanted, then blended them together with the aqua painter – like a paint brush. It doesn’t matter if you overlap colors, that’s just going to give you better mixed colors.

I hope you liked this version. I originally got the idea from Patty Bennett, who did a video on watercoloring using some notecards with the same colors and basic layout.  Here are some of my versions of those, using some ribbon and cardstock to border the DSP, and the Whisper White Notecards – which are a bit smaller than the standard card size.

The good news is that because it’s Sale-A-Bration time, if you purchase the Petal Palette Bundle, which already includes a discounted price, you can also earn a FREE Sale-A-Bration item! How cool is that!

Click over to my online store to go shopping, or contact me if you have any questions!
Don’t forget to use the current Hostess Code if your order is under $150. It’s always up at the top of my blog! Right now it’s XF7TYZQX.

Thanks for stopping by!

Global Stamping Friends Hop – 2018 SAB and Occasions

Hi everyone!

It’s time for the Global Stamping Friends Blog Hop, and it really is global!! This hops around every month on the first Friday. There are folks all around the world joining this, so please take a look at all the fun stuff people have to share. Each month is a different theme, and this month it’s Sale-A-Bration and the new Occasions Catalog!!

This is pretty exciting because there are SO many new things available.  I’ve picked just a few of the many items to show you today.
I’m also working on getting some new posts up in the next week to cover all the details of Sale-A-Bration, and how you can benefit from this spectacular yearly sale – so stay tuned.

The first card I want to share uses one of my new favorites in the Occasions Catalog. It’s the Brusho Crystal Color, watercolor ink crystals. These things are fantastic! I’ve paired them up with some watercolor paper and the new Beautiful Day stamp set. Here is what I first came up with:

I used a quick and simple layout I liked, using some of the new Petal Passion Designer Series Paper (DSP) – which is all black and white images. This is perfect for pairing up with any pop of color!  In fact, I liked it so much, I made a few more using the same supplies and just changed out the color Brushos I used.

To use them, just add water to paper and sprinkle on! There are several ways to do that, and I hope to put some more info together in the near future on the differences. But the easiest way to play is with the Aqua Painters. I did that for my Winter scene card here.

Using the butterfly, here are the four different combinations I came up with:

I will definitely be using this technique lots in the future!  I also threw in a bit more color by using the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to color my rhinestones in the corners. You can make them a variety of different colors to match any card.

My next card for you features a new stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog that you can only earn (for FREE). It’s Happy Wishes, and it has a bunch of phrases to choose from – so you can use it for just about any occasion you can think of. I used the same layout as the butterfly card, just changing up the colors and embellishments:

How simple and pretty is that! I colored the flowers with watercolor pencils, and the lemon-lime paper accent was created from the Petals & More Thinlits, which coordinate with the Petal Passion DSP. I’ve also used some of the Naturally Eclectic DSP to get that splash of colors all at once. I used a variety of Blends to color a few more rhinestones different colors, and added Wink of Stella on the flowers. Such a stunning card, I think.

I hope you like these and I hope you enjoy hopping through the rest of today’s Blog Hop!  Click the “Next” arrow to continue on, or click on any of the names below if you get lost or want to hop around.

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – Watercoloring

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it is Watercoloring!!

I have two projects for you today, and as I’ve done several watercoloring cards in the past, I picked two techniques I haven’t shown yet.  The first one is a clean and simple design using watercoloring for a subtle background:

www.stampinmak.com

I used both the watercoloring pencils (the Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry) and the Berry Burst ink refill for this one. It’s done on regular Whisper White cardstock. You can see you don’t need to use the watercolor paper everytime to watercolor!

www.stampinmak.com

I mixed and matched today’s cards with several stamp sets. The Happy Birthday is from Rose Wonder cut out with the Stitched framelits, and the leaves and plus signs are from the new set Oh So Eclectic. I used the coordinating framelits to cut out the leaves and the little gold pieces. I finished it off by using some of the new Metallic sequins.

This next one is using the new Glossy Paper, and the watercoloring is a little less subtle:

www.stampinmak.com

I got the paper all wet with a paintbrush first, then used various ink colors to color in the background. I just smooshed the inkpad when closed to get a little of the color in the lid to use that. I went over it once, then let it dry a bit, then went over some of the colors again to make them darker.

Once it dries, you can still tell this is the glossy paper in this angle:

www.stampinmak.com

I added a simple frame around the card by drawing a line with a black marker. The sentiment is from the new set Colorful Seasons. The butterfly thinlit die is from the Move Me set. I added some of the new copper trim behind it – I cut off a small piece, then cut it open. It’s actually like a tube of mini wire ribbon – pretty neat! I added some of the metallic sequins here, too. I picked out the copper and iridescent ones.

There are so many different ways to use watercoloring, so I hope you try them all! While you are doing that, be on the lookout for more information about some specials this month – I’m going to be having a Christmas in July card class (just narrowing down the date), and it will go great with one of the specials Stampin’ up has going on! I’ll do a separate post about that to get all the info in there.

Thanks for looking!

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – New 2017-18 Catalog

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it is The NEW Catalog!!

There are so many new products I want to share with you , but I will start with one set for today.. the new In-Colors! You may have already seen some in the Eastern Palace Suite.. but here are all 5 of them:

I’m pretty sure Lemon Lime Twist is my new favorite. These are such fun colors, and I wanted to show how well they work together. So, the card I have for you uses all of them! I recently made a watercolored card using Lemon Lime Twist with some of the other non In-Colors, and I liked it so much I decided to make it again using the new ones, so here it is:

www.stampinmak.com

How fun is this??  There are a lot of new things going on with the card. New cardstock, new stamps, new ribbon, oh my!
I used the new Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, as well as watercolor paper and some Basic Black. The new ribbon is the 1/2″ Finely Woven ribbon in Berry Burst. I used all the new In-color ink pads as well as the re-inkers. The sentiment is from the new stamp set Colorful Seasons. It’s a wonderful set with stamps for every season! It even has a coordinating die cut set available in a bundle. 🙂
The funky little lines on the circles are also part of the stamp set, meant to be the centers of flowers.. but nothing says they have to be used for that!

Here is a close up so you can see the Wink of Stella I added to some of the circles, which, by the way, are the size of a plastic pop bottle lid.

I look forward to making many new projects with all these fabulous new colors! Don’t worry, when I do I will share them with you so you can be happy, too!

Also, if you missed it on the calendar, I have a class this Saturday, and the deadline is coming up soon! Please let me know if you would like to attend, and you can see these new products up close and use them to make some new cards. It’ll be a good time!

I can’t wait to see what everyone else has to share this month, as there is just so much excitement over the new catalog!

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – Retiring Items

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it is Retiring items!

WOW..There are so many retiring items each year – which makes me sad to see them go, but excited for the new products that will take their place! With so many to choose from, I’ve decided to show a few items here that are special to me.

This first one was from the Occasions catalog. It’s using the stamp set Chase Your Dreams. You may recall I used this one on a previous card with a sunset, for the sentiment. This time I’ve used the stamp that was my whole reason for buying it! The castle! 🙂

www.stampinmak.com

As soon as I saw this I knew I had to get it, well, because I’ve been there! This is Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. It truly is the fairy tale castle. So, I’ve made it a simple card, focusing on the castle itself, and added some shading with sparkle around it.

www.stampinmak.com

I am definitely sorry to see this go, but will also be making sure to make lots more cards with this set!  For this particular card, I used Smokey Slate and Cherry Cobbler, and then blender pens with the ink pads to color it in. There’s also a bit of Crushed Curry, and Soft Sky is sponged in the background.

This next one I want to share because it went with the sunset card. They both used retiring items and used the same technique to create them… A lot of sponging! It’s sometimes called the galaxy technique, and in this card, I actually made a galaxy!

www.stampinmak.com

Starting out with lots of bright colors… just start sponging. Overlap, leave gaps.. doesn’t matter. The proceed with a darker color, like Night of Navy. Fill in some of the gaps and overlap the colors. To get the stars, I’ve used one of my favorite retiring sets, Gorgeous Grunge. I’m not sure what I’ll do without it! I inked the dots in white ink, then stamped all over the card. I finished it off by flicking an Aqua Painter on it (just plain water), along with some Wink of Stella. The sentiment, very appropriate, comes from Over the Rainbow (also retiring). It’s embossed in white, then finished off with more Stella.

I hope these inspire you to get creating!
The retiring items are going fast, some are as supplies last! If you need anything off your wish list, just give me a call, or shop my online store <click here> using the current Hostess Code: 6PYCBX7J, or click the image below:
