Blogging Friends Blog Hop – New 2018 Annual Catalog

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme! This month it’s The New 2018 Annual Catalog!

Let me start by saying, WOW!  You must see the new catalog. 🙂
If you do not already have a Demonstrator, and you need a catalog – LET ME KNOW! I can get one in your hands!

Ok, got that out of the way… Now let’s focus on what I picked for you this month… It’s the start of Summer… kids are out of school… fun is being had… and before you know it, POOF! School will start back up! I know, I know! I am NOT rushing Summer! I’m just saying it’s never too early to be prepared.
So, I’ve decided to use one of the new stamp sets I specifically got for the purpose of giving back to teachers! It’s the “Picked For You” stamp set (see what I did there, heh).  Here’s a cute treat holder that can be used for any occasion.

It’s a multi-step stamp, so you can make awesome looking apples of any color. You can even see 3 different examples right in the catalog, page 171!
I’ve used one of the New In-Colors, Lovely Lipstick. In fact, I’ve used the ink, 6 x 6 In-Color Designer Series Paper, and the new embossing powder all in that color!  Just for good measure, I added some of the new Red Rhinestones to give it some more pizzazz. Here is a close up of the embossing powder and Wink of Stella on the apple shimmering away:

I used the Layering Circles and the Stitched Shapes Framelits to frame the apple. Silver Foil and Vellum are layered under the apple that I cut out by hand. I also used the returning Petals & More thinlits to cut out the sentiment.
This stamp set has lots of great sentiments to choose from, including “For a Special Teacher” which will be perfect when school starts back up.

You could fill this with anything from chocolate to sticky notes! Once it’s all filled up, you can tie it closed using some of the Silver Metallic Edge and Silver Baker’s Twine. That cute little hole for the ribbon was easy to make, too. I used the new Detailed Trio punch. Punch, and done.  Here’s the side view to see how it’s perfect for goodies:

The box itself was not too complicated either. I have seen several variations of this style, as folks are kind to share their creations. For this one in particular, I got the inspiration from Angie Juda’s treat box here.  I must admit though, I didn’t actually watch the video, I just saw the box and thought, I want to do something like that! 🙂

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s creation and would love to hear what you think about it!  Don’t forget to hop around to the other folks in today’s blog hop, we’d love to have you visit!

Reminder: Don’t forget to take a peek at the calendar event dates, as I have the July Card Making Classes scheduled! You could come see some of the new products in person while we use them for class!

Gold Merry Patterns Deer

Today I have a gorgeous card for you using the new Hostess Special stamp set, Merry Patterns. Remember you can’t buy this set, but you can earn it free with a qualifying workshop order!

The Stampin’ Up Artisan Design team has so any wonderful samples they share with us, I decided to make a few cards using one of their layouts! You don’t always have to be crafty on your own – that’s why we all share. 🙂

Here is one card I made from Rochelle Blok‘s design:

www.stampinmak.com

I just changed up a few embellishments, but kept the gold embossed deer and lovely plaid paper from the Christmas Around the World Designer Series Paper. I used the Gold Mini Trim with some of the Metallic Sequins to carry on the gold shine (I picked out the gold ones to use for this). The Merry Christmas is heat embossed in white and popped up on some dimensionals, It really is stunning in person! I am so happy Rochelle shared this with everyone.

Stay tuned this week for more samples with the Merry Patterns set, and contact me if you would like to host a workshop so you can have this, too!
Happy Stamping!

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – Retiring Items

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it is Retiring items!

WOW..There are so many retiring items each year – which makes me sad to see them go, but excited for the new products that will take their place! With so many to choose from, I’ve decided to show a few items here that are special to me.

This first one was from the Occasions catalog. It’s using the stamp set Chase Your Dreams. You may recall I used this one on a previous card with a sunset, for the sentiment. This time I’ve used the stamp that was my whole reason for buying it! The castle! 🙂

www.stampinmak.com

As soon as I saw this I knew I had to get it, well, because I’ve been there! This is Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. It truly is the fairy tale castle. So, I’ve made it a simple card, focusing on the castle itself, and added some shading with sparkle around it.

www.stampinmak.com

I am definitely sorry to see this go, but will also be making sure to make lots more cards with this set!  For this particular card, I used Smokey Slate and Cherry Cobbler, and then blender pens with the ink pads to color it in. There’s also a bit of Crushed Curry, and Soft Sky is sponged in the background.

This next one I want to share because it went with the sunset card. They both used retiring items and used the same technique to create them… A lot of sponging! It’s sometimes called the galaxy technique, and in this card, I actually made a galaxy!

www.stampinmak.com

Starting out with lots of bright colors… just start sponging. Overlap, leave gaps.. doesn’t matter. The proceed with a darker color, like Night of Navy. Fill in some of the gaps and overlap the colors. To get the stars, I’ve used one of my favorite retiring sets, Gorgeous Grunge. I’m not sure what I’ll do without it! I inked the dots in white ink, then stamped all over the card. I finished it off by flicking an Aqua Painter on it (just plain water), along with some Wink of Stella. The sentiment, very appropriate, comes from Over the Rainbow (also retiring). It’s embossed in white, then finished off with more Stella.

I hope these inspire you to get creating!
The retiring items are going fast, some are as supplies last! If you need anything off your wish list, just give me a call, or shop my online store <click here> using the current Hostess Code: 6PYCBX7J, or click the image below:

Retired items on sale now

Hi again!  Sorry for the quick posting back to back.. but I wanted to make sure everyone knew about the Retiring items that are going fast!  The new catalog starts on June 1st, so we are all getting ready for that. Until then, the items not returning are going, going, and some are already gone!  On the plus side, there are many items that are discounted up to 50%. YAY!

With how quickly things are changing day to day, even hour to hour… there is no “list” being updated.. Basically, if it’s still in the store, it is available. If it’s not, well, then it’s already gone. 😦

Let me know if you need anything, or feel free to use my online store. The current hostess code is at the top of my blog. Right now, it’s 6PYCBX7J. If your order is over $150, don’t use that so you can keep the benefits!

To tie into the “Sun is setting…”theme, here is a card I made for a technique challenge with other demonstrators:

www.stampinmak.com

It’s using the In the Meadow stamp set for the trees and grass, and the sentiment is from the stamp set of the same name, Chase Your Dreams – in the Occasions catalog. Both are retiring, and Chase Your Dreams is discounted! I heat embossed the words with white embossing powder.

I used various colors with some sponging to get the sunset/sunrise/galaxy look to the card. I then speckled the sky with water, white ink, a bit of Wink of Stella, and also used the stamp with speckled dots from the Gorgeous Grunge set (also retiring).

I love how this one turned out – as no two are ever exactly the same. It truly is even prettier in person!  I hope you like it, and don’t forget to check out the retiring items in the store!
EDIT:  The Clearance Rack was just updated today!!! YAY!!  Make sure to click on the items to see the discounts, they don’t seem to be showing on the summary page.

Blogging Friends Blog Hop – The Color Yellow

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it is the color YELLOW!

I’m generally not a specific fan of yellow, but I kept thinking what a pretty spring color it can be!  So, today I have 3 cards for you using various shades of yellow, with a few supporting colors to go with them.

I even got to dig into a few stamp sets I haven’t used in a while! Here are the details on the individual cards…

Up first….. A card for any occasion.

www.stampinmak.com

This is using the Beautiful You set from the Occasions Catalog, along with some Designer Series Paper in Delightful Dijon. The Stitched framelits and the coordinating Oval framelits fit together perfectly to give a nice border.
I added some rhinestones and Wink of Stella for some sparkle:

www.stampinmak.com

I immediately thought I needed to make some flowers, so I dug out my Flower Patch set! I haven’t used that in months!! But – it’s springtime, so hopefully more and more flowers will be used soon.

www.stampinmak.com

I used lots of yellows for this one. Daffodil Delight, So Saffron, and Crushed Curry all make up the flowers. I added a bit of Peekaboo Peach on the tips and centers of a few to give it a bit more depth. Early Espresso rounds out the inks with the Banners for You stamp set and coordinating Framelit. I wrapped up some gold metallic thread behind the banner and added some rhinestones to the flowers. The background was just a bit of sponging and some dots from the Timeless Textures stamp set.

The last one I have for you today is now one of my favorites.

www.stampinmak.com

It’s using the Hexagons embossing folder from the Occasions folder, and is so nifty in person. It’s one of the extra deep folders, so the design is very well defined. I used Crushed Curry for this one. The sentiment is from the Host set – Time of Year. I stamped it with Memento on vellum, then embossed it with clear embossing powder. The cute little bees are actually from one of my favorite sets from the Occasions Catalog – Dragonfly Dreams, with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. I stamped it, then wanted to cut out the bee – but I chose not to put bonus paper behind it when I was done, so you can see through the bee. oops. 🙂
I did, however, remember to get the wings all shiny with Wink of Stella:

www.stampinmak.com

This was pretty cool to get a set of cards in one shade of color.. maybe in the future I’ll do this again with other colors… who knows, anything is possible!

I hope you liked these projects, and make sure to check out all the other wonderful projects from the other Blog Hop members!! No joke!
