Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it is anything LOVE!
One thing we all love is having a guest blogger. 🙂  Welcome this month to Tami White!! YAY!! If you have not seen one of her ‘Stampin Scoop Show’ videos, you must take some time to do so. She shows some cute projects, and she is a hoot!

On to the theme this month… since there are so many directions you could go with this, I decided to do a project incorporating something I love – rainbow-like colors! I’m sure it’s not the typical thing you think of when someone says ‘love’, but hopefully it will inspire you to create something you love, too!
I recently saw a technique used by blending inks together to get those rainbow like colors I love so much. It’s something I’ve done before, but just not with the color combo I found this time! I’ve used the more traditional rainbow colors, but this one is a bit on the brighter side – and I’m ok with that!

Take a look here at the finished card, then I’ll share the steps to get there:

Isn’t that stunning? The rainbow background is created by using multiple inks with sponges, then flicking a bit of water onto the paper! Super simple!

This is such a great combo. And – it’s actually only four colors, Melon Mambo, Peekaboo Peach, Daffodil Delight and Bermuda Bay. I used some sponges and rubbed the color on some Whisper White, and made sure to overlap the edges of the colors. The overlapping gives you the additional colors. Then, I took a bit of water and flicked it onto the paper. Let it sit a moment, and it will start to form little white ‘bubbles’ in the color. You can let them dry or dab them with a paper towel.

The picture above has one with the water spots, one without.  Here is a close up of the water, since even the little bitty specks look pretty neat close up:

In the finished card, I even added a bonus layer of hearts stamped with the White Craft ink. I think I made the hearts too subtle, but you can still see them.
I layered it using the Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper. It has Melon Mambo hearts to coordinate.   The dragonfly and sentiment are from the Occasions catalog – Dragonfly Dreams Bundle. I covered the dragonfly with Wink of Stella to make it shimmer, then placed it on some wound up Silver Metallic Thread:

I love how it turned out, so bright and cheery. For those of us living in the snowy part of the country, I’m sure it’s something nice and bright to look at with hopes of a short winter! Shorter winter means the sooner we can see colorful flowers!

Since I had two pieces of my background paper I was trying out, here’s the second card I made with it:

I made sure to get the hearts a little darker this time.  They came from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set. The sentiment is heat embossed using Versamark and White embossing powder. It’s from the Grateful Bunch stamp set. The dragonfly on here is a little smaller than the first one.. but don’t worry, you get both sizes in the bundle. 🙂
I hope you enjoyed my take on “anything love” and please feel free to let me know what you love, too!

* Don’t forget to RSVP for my class this weekend if you plan on coming! *

Happy Stamping,
Mak
