Blogging Friends Blog Hop – New Catalog

Welcome to this month’s “Blogging Friends Blog Hop!”

Who are the ‘Blogging Friends’? We are Stampin’ Up! demonstrators all across the U.S. and Canada. Most of us haven’t met in person, but love Stampin’ Up and want to share with you! Please join us on the 1st of every month to see what wonderful things we have created!  Each month we’ll have a different theme; this month it’s: The New Catalog!!

That’s right, the NEW Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog STARTS TODAY!

Today is an exciting day. Not only are you and I able to order the new products, as if that wasn’t enough… I get to show you a super cute non-card I learned how to make! It *could* be a card.. but more like in a 3-D fashion. It’s similar to a picture frame.. or a shadow box.  Let me show a picture first, then I’ll tell you what I used:

Isn’t that cute?  I used a bunch of the new In-colors to make this, as well as some of the new coordinating Playful Palette washi tape. There are actually a lot of elements in this project, let me list them out for you:

Cardstocks:  Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Vellum, Neutrals DSP Stack (I think it’s the Smokey Slate one)
Framelits: Botanical Builder, Butterflies, Hello You, Mini Treat Bag
Punches: Elegant Butterfly, Bitty Butterfly
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Gorgeous Grunge, Awesomely Artistic
Inks: Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Versamark
Others: Playful Palette Washi Tape, Rhinestones, Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals

I did say it was a lot… but here’s the thing.. I basically picked through a few sets that were all on the shelf together and used one or two stamps (or framelits) that I thought would work well from each. I could have easily done this a little simpler.. but what fun would that be? 🙂

Here are some closeups of the flowers with Wink of Stella on them:

And here is a closeup of the vellum butterfly before I attached his antenna:

I’m so glad Wink of Stella is in the catalog! I love that stuff!  Look at how it makes the vellum all shimmery. Here’s one last pic from a different view of the frame so you can see the depth under the flowers:

The frame is much easier to make than I originally thought, just make sure to do your first one on practice paper. I saw this online in many places, and decided to change the dimensions up a bit to accommodate a full 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of card stock. Basically you do a lot of scoring, a bit of cutting, and then neatly fold it all up.  I scored at half inch marks for this project.
I will have to do a separate post on how to do that soon, as I didn’t take too many pictures during the making of the card… but I do have this from my scrap paper, this is what it looks like after you score it then cut it up (the corners get removed):

I hope you enjoyed this project, and if there’s interest, I can even do a class on it – just let me know!

There’s lots more to share now that the new catalog is out, there are some more specials going on… AND I have my New Catalog Open House coming up next weekend on Saturday, June 11th.   Look for more info in the coming days, and if you need a copy of the catalog in your hands – contact me so I can get you one!!
Thanks for looking,
Mak
